Waterlogged

Waterlogged

from $500.00

Waterlogged was created from seven different dumpster walls transforming a photograph taken from the shores of Cambria, California into a rolling wave of plastic bags. At the International Coastal Cleanup in 2018, around 1.9 million grocery bags and other plastic bags were collected. Marine animals often mistake plastic bags for food, making plastic bags and other flexible plastic responsible for killing over 80 different species of animals. It takes approximately 1,000 years for a plastic bag to breakdown and even then they never fully disappear, instead they become microplastics absorbing toxins contaminating our oceans and being ingested by marine life.
